A WALK TO THE VILLAGE

Image
by: Olwyn Jencsi V. Portades Walking under the blazing sun. Morning has come! It’s time to move around and I’ve got the perfect recommendation for that morning walk. Feel the cool morning breeze as you take a brisk walk or as you jog going to a gem, not hidden but is far from the noise of modernity. It is not a resort but a community activity area by the beach. Welcome to Xavier Eco-Village, a resort-like project of Barangay San Francisco in Malilipot, Albay. Don’t go too far ahead, you still have to enjoy that morning walk as you witness the bright rays of sun touch the tip of the ever beautiful Mayon Volcano. If you stop for a while, you will feel astonishingly relieved by the ambiance that gives of that early Philippine-vibe. The one when there were more farmers than office workers. Peace, Quiet and Beauty Alright, let’s head on. Walk on, morning person, just up ahead is a sight of something clear and sparkling. That’s right, it’s the sea, but which coast does it belong to?

PILI NUT CANDY

Image
by: Jan Angel Maravilla     I did some research about the Pili nut called as "King of Nuts." According to the Department of Trade and Industry, our country is the only one capable of commercially producing and processing pili-based food. Bicol, in particular, supplies 80 percent of the overall output volume in the Philippines. Even though Pili is a great resource for our community, it did not receive financing or attention many years ago. Pili Trees can be found in bushes throughout tropical Asia and other Pacific islands, however the ones cultivated in the Bicol Region, on the southeastern end of the Philippine island of Luzon, were said to have been the finest yet.  The region contains the best variables for growing Pili. Pili nut candy is a homemade delicacy offered in airports, terminals, and popular tourist destinations around Bicol, Albay. Foreigners, in my experience, enjoy the sweetness of this delicacy. My mother used to produce Pili nut candy which are popular among

NAG-ASO LAKE

Image
by: Jan Angel Maravilla      Without a doubt, Albay is a popular destination for nature lovers. Manito is one of 15 municipalities in Albay Province, e very city and municipality has a number of tourist attractions.  Driving an hour away from the city isn't that bad when you're about to arrive to a breathtaking location. The beauty of nature on your route to Nag-Aso Lake, or should I say Boiling Lake, will keep you awake during the ride. Because Manito is a rural location, there aren't as many public transportation or private vehicles as there are in the city. It also implies that there is no air pollution in the mentioned area. It is also one of the reasons why Manito is a popular place to unwind and relax. The scent of Nag-Aso Lake will be the first thing you notice when you arrive. Some believe it is the sulfur odor emanating from the lake. It is surrounded by many trees, which enhances the scenery. Even from a distance, the smoke from Nag-Aso Lake is highly visible,

BLACK LAVA

Image
by: Jan Angel Maravilla      Daraga's breathtaking Black Lava is a must-see destination for tourists. The Mayon Volcano eruption formed a rock in this location, which became a tourist attraction. The journey and experience, especially for first-timers, are unforgettable. Both foreign visitors and locals will be astounded by this place. Although this amazing spot is not easy to reach; to see the beauty of Mayon Volcano up close, you must travel for almost 7 kilometers. One of the most direct paths to the Black Lava is through the Cagsawa Ruins. Black Lava is difficult to reach, as I previously indicated. There are two ways to get to the peak; the first is for those who enjoy hiking. If you have the stamina to ascend the mountains, hiking to Black Lava is the best way to accomplish so. Second, if you are feeling daring and believe that riding an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) will make you appreciate the path to the Black Lava, you can do so. Back in December, I had the opportunity to

Travel usually corresponds to life because it allows you to visit various areas with different cultures and lifestyles. It's also a simple way to learn about a location's traditions and culture. Furthermore, tourism is the primary source of income in so many areas. The New Long Road to Alobo Airport_Jheyma Marbella

The New Long to Alobo Airport   One way to start your day is to have an early morning jog. The majority of Filipinos' stress and attention are channeled into eating and sleeping. So, the result is they gain weight because of their overstaying at home and lack of exercise. Just like what happened to us, we gained weight immediately after a year of the pandemic. We can't control our diet anymore. We also don't have the tools for exercising and we don't have space in our place for a long walk or jogging. When the pandemic or the quarantine loosens up and allows people to go outside for a limited time, me and my cousins seize this opportunity to go for an early morning jog.   We look for the best place to do it, and luckily, the next barangay over has a wide road that was built at the time; it isn't perfect, but it's good for doing some exercises and jogging every morning. In fact, many people who already visit there go there to jog because the road and the air bree

Ilah Nature Park_Jheyma Marbella

The Ilah Nature Park  One way to lessen your stress is to go up to the mountain. On August 19, 2021, we decided to go to the mountain. For me, this is the best decision I've ever made. Online classes are sucking the life out of me, and I'm finding it difficult to concentrate on my studies. And it is good that you have friends that you can invite to go somewhere to lessen your stress in life. That's why we chose to go to Ilah Nature Park, located in Ligao City.    We travel to Ligao City on a motorcycle in the early morning of August 19 from Daraga at 6:00 a.m. It took us almost one and a half hours to travel because of traffic along the way. At around 8:30 in the morning, we arrived at the foot of Ilah Nature Park. Because you cannot bring your motorcycle up the mountain, we parked it down the mountain. The next thing we do is bring our bags, food, and water along the way. While we are walking up to the mountain, we see different plants and many birds that make us more rel
